How To Prevent Home Invasion
To prevent the intrusion of unwanted burglaries or home invasion your gates need be well designed and made as strong as possible the Gate should have at least two locks spaced between 600mm and 700mm apart allowing for added strength to the gate, choose a good quality lock that can handle the force of sideways movement.
The gate must not be mounted directly to the wall, it should be installed in a frame made of at least the same size tubing as the gate or larger where possible, the frame needs to be mounted with a minimum of 8 anchoring points on the sides and at the top where possible, preferably try securing the frame with epoxy chemical anchor rods.

- The in-fill bars that run vertically should be full length solid round steel running full height without any cuts or joins, round bar does not allow for twisting as square bar has four corners for you to use multiple tools on it for twisting.
- A crowbar protection bar needs to be installed the full-length of the gate of at least a 5mm thickness over the gap on the lock side, this prevents tools such as screwdrivers and crow-bars being inserted between the gate and the frame.
If you have made your security gate as strong as possible then you need to focus on your window security burglar bars and have them well designed and made as strong as possible your windows are normally an easy point of entry for most criminals and they can easily pull the burglar proofing off of the wall.
If you can install the burglar bars on the inside of your window this makes it difficult to reach without having to break a window first.
If you are installing burglar proofing to the outside of your house fit them onto a solid frame that goes completely around the window and secure the frame down with epoxy chemical anchor rods, this is stronger than using wall plugs and Rawlbolt’s.
If you do not like the look of security burglar bars and want your view unobstructed then make sure you have early warning and detection systems in place.
